In Doha, brunch isn’t a Sunday affair. With the weekend observed on Friday and Saturday, Fridays are rest days, much like Sunday in Western cultures. Over time, Friday brunches have become a local institution – long, leisurely meals with international menus, free-flowing drinks and often live entertainment. Here are some of my favourites, as an expat living in Doha.

Playful Chinese plates

The little sister of Michelin-starred Kai Mayfair in London, expect sophisticated Chinese cuisine in a spectacular setting at Kai’s Songbird. Housed in the Ritz-Carlton’s former Admiral’s Club, B-Lounge has reinvented itself with a St Tropez-inspired Mediterranean brunch menu, accented by pan-Asian flavours and outstanding cocktails.
