Opened in June 2012 by entrepreneur Caveliere Modesto Marini of The Marini’s Group, Marini’s on 57 is an award-winning, upscale establishment that comprises an Italian restaurant, a rooftop bar and whisky lounge, and boasts the best views of the cityscape in Kuala Lumpur. Here, each dish is made with 100% Italian ingredients, including rare, seasonal treats such as Burrata cheese, served on tableware sourced from Italy. In celebration of its 8th anniversary this year, here are eight things to try at this iconic venue in Malaysia.

1. Admire the stunning skyline from its rooftop bar

Perched at about 267m above sea level within Petronas Tower 3, Marini’s on 57 is home to a swanky rooftop bar, the perfect place to take in the sunset while admiring the Kuala Lumpur skyline and the Petronas Twin Towers. In spite of the restrictions that have sprung up due to the MCO, the bar still offers casual dining options. Known as “sunset dining”, it is a picturesque experience, a feast for the eyes, as well as for the palate.

2. Get a taste of its range of wines, whisky and champagne

If you’re going to drink, you’ve got to do it right with high quality spirits. Marini’s on 57, for instance, stocks wines that hail from 17th century vineyards. Exclusively distributed by The Marini’s Group, the wines, whisky and champagne available here are among the most exquisite. There’s even a collection of wines made by erstwhile Formula One driver Jarno Trulli. For those who would prefer a cocktail, try the 57 Shades of 57 (Sous vide Mezcal with black glutinous rice, Pedro Ximenez-infused chamomile, beetroot syrup, coffee pecan syrup and blackberry shrub).

3. Indulge in premium caviar

Treat yourself to some caviar, a delicacy traditionally enjoyed by royalty and aristocrats, at Marini’s on 57. The fine-dining establishment boasts an in-house label, Marini’s Premium Caviar Selection, which was unveiled in September 2017 and includes sustainably farmed Beluga Siberian and Osietra caviar from Italy’s Caviar Giaveri. While the former is the most expensive type of caviar with a buttery mouthfeel, the latter is a finer variant with a golden brown appearance.

4. Dine on handpicked Angus and Wagyu beef

Every cut of Angus and Wagyu beef has been specially handpicked by the founder of The Marini’s Group. What’s more, they are delivered and dry-aged with the bones still attached to the meat. This dry-aging process, which takes place in an in-house cellar, lasts for at least 21 days and enhances the fragrance and flavour of the beef. If you’re hankering for some top-notch beef, this Italian restaurant is the place to be.

5. Peruse its cigar menu

Head to the whisky lounge at Marini’s on 57 and take a look at its extensive collection of vintage and premium cigars from Cuba. Best paired with spirits such as whisky and bourbon, the cigars come in a diversity of sizes, shapes and strengths, and feature tantalising aromas containing notes of leather and coffee or wood and honey.

6. Try your luck at spotting a celebrity at Marini’s on 57

Well-known as a hotspot for socialites and celebrities, this iconic rooftop bar and restaurant has hosted the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Ed Sheeran and Sami Hyypiä. Drop by and try your luck at catching sight of a famed figure. Whether or not you end up meeting your idols, it’s no less thrilling to have dined where countless celebrities have dined.

7. Get your fix of white truffles

One of the few places where you’ll find white truffles from Alba in Kuala Lumpur is Marini’s on 57, which ships them in every October. The rarest and most valuable variety of its kind, white truffles can only be harvested between October and December each year. They also have a limited shelf life. If you want to get a taste of this seasonal delight, pre-book a table at the restaurant during the white truffle season or get stuck on the waiting list.

8. Party with legendary DJs (once the MCO has been lifted!)

Due to the MCO, no live entertainment is allowed at the moment. But you can still visit Marini’s on 57 for a spot of casual dining, while waiting for the opportunity to get back to partying with renowned international DJs that the restaurant has played host to, including Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, the Mambo Brothers and Erik Hagelton. The brand has even released music albums, inspired by the sunset views from the rooftop venue, with music icons such as José Padilla and Chris Coco – perfect for tiding you through this MCO period.
