Everyone remembers the first time they travelled and the adventures they had. Whether it's your first adventure or you're visiting an exciting destination for the first time, trying and exploring someplace new is always exciting.

Booking.com, the global leader in connecting travellers with the widest selection of awesome places to stay, has conducted global research which reveals the eight most popular destinations that people travel to for their first time.

Over 15,000 travellers were polled from markets all over the world, but it's Europe that has come out on top. Each location offers a variety of dynamic city experiences with something for everyone to explore and enjoy, whatever your preferences or needs.

Paris, France

The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, The Louvre… it’s easy to see why the French capital has been such a hit with travellers. Consistently popularised by romantic films, Paris is an easy pick for a first time visit.

Barcelona, Spain

A city rich in history, Barcelona is also home to one of the biggest football clubs in the world. Of course the Nou Camp is a must visit but so is the La Sagrada Familia, one of Europe’s most breath-taking constructions.

From fish and chips to the Tower of London, Big Ben to shopping at Oxford Street, there’s a tonne of things to eat, see and do in the capital of Great Britain. It’s also one of the most well-connected cities in the world and easy to fly too as well.

From great beaches, historic buildings, citadels and a renowned and vibrant night life scene, the coastal town of Malaga has plenty on offer for any first-time visitor and even repeat visitors too.
