Travellers in Kuala Lumpur will now get to move seamlessly across the city’s rail network thanks to the newly launched enhanced KL TravelPass. The new integrated transport ticket, which offers a convenient travel solution to travellers  was launched by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) and Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL).

The KL TravelPass was launched by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri. Also present at the launch event was Executive Chairman of ERL, YBhg. Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh; Chief Executive Officer of Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat, Azharuddin Mat Sah; Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, YBhg Dato’ Ir. Zohari Sulaiman and Chief Executive Officer of ERL, Noormah Mohd Noor.

According to YBhg. Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi, the KL TravelPass was developed to increase ERL’s base by targeting the untapped inbound travellers visiting Kuala Lumpur, similar to the Oyster Card in London and Octopus Card in Hong Kong.

“Our value proposition of seamless, pleasant and convenient journey from KLIA to the city of Kuala Lumpur made our services very popular both among tourists and fellow Malaysians,” he added. “The KL TravelPass will also promote tourist attractions not only in the city but also those in Klang Valley because of Prasarana’s public transport system network.”

The KL TravelPass is an integrated transport card that comes with a KLIA Ekspres airport transfer (available one-way or return) and 2-day unlimited rides on Rapid KL rail services (LRT, MRT and KL Monorail lines).

The card is priced at RM70 for single trip and RM115 for return trips and is available for sale at KLIA Ekspres Ticket Counters in KLIA, KLIA2 and Departure Hall, KL Sentral.

Travellers also have the option to add cash value to the KL TravelPass to enjoy extended benefits of travelling on Rapid KL buses and KTM Komuter rail services. ERL plans to further improve the KL TravelPass in the future by including other transport providers.

The collaboration between Prasarana and ERL was a result of a recent Ridership Workshop organized by SPAD among rail operators to encourage the public to use the rail network and increase passenger ridership. The Government aims to achieve a 40% modal share on public transportation by 2030.
