Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk (RKTHW)
Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk
A free and guided walk tour, the Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk (RKTHW) programme by Tourism Selangor aims to highlight the character, charm and unique attractions of Klang to the public.
Known as one of the oldest towns in Selangor, if not Malaysia, Klang is steeped in tradition, history and customs. The town began at the southern bank of the Klang River, which has been known throughout the world as the ultimate tin producer in the early 15th century.
Prior to making Shah Alam their domain, Klang was previously the home of the royal family of Selangor and was named as the royal capital of the state. It was the capital of the British colonial administration for Selangor from 1875 until 1880. In 1880, the capital state was moved to Kuala Lumpur.
Thus, this two and a half hour programme that is conducted by professional tourist guides will give individuals an insight into the historical town’s development, the foundation of the Selangor monarchy as well as the British colonial administration from a period of the late 1800’s to mid 1900’s, making it a perfect educational programme to bring your family to during the holidays or even as a weekend get together activity with friends in the city.
Held every weekend, individuals are welcomed to register for the programme by calling us at +603-5513 2000 or visit our website at Selangor.travel for further information.
The historical town will be brought to light through an array of 11 historical sights.
