Tourism Selangor Announces 40 Finalists For 2021 Tourism Recovery Plan Pitch Competition
TOURISM SELANGOR ANNOUNCES 40 FINALISTS FOR 2021 TOURISM RECOVERY PLAN PITCH COMPETITION
40 Group-finalists in the running for RM 150,000 Worth of Project Grants as an Initiative to Rebuild Selangor’s Tourism Industry!
Tourism Selangor through its Industrial Development division has recently announced 40 group-finalists of a pitch competition on Selangor’s Domestic Tourism Recovery Plan. The Plan is set to foster domestic tourism in Selangor via effective approaches based on the new norms or through initiatives geared towards bracing the global pandemic.
The pitch competition also paved the way for tourism industry players and the general public to come up with the ideas on sustaining the industry, especially in Selangor, including on the aspect of recovering tourists’ trust to travel to Selangor; making the State a premier and preferred travel destination in Malaysia.
The competition which commenced on June 14th and ended on July 31st received a total of 101 Proposals; 34 with focus in both “Creative and Innovative Tourism” and “Sustainable Tourism” categories, and the remaining 33 focused on “Tourism Digitalization”. Out of the total Proposal, 40 were produced by local universities, 35 from private organizations, 16 by tourism-based companies, and the remaining were produced by Non-Profit Organizations (NGOs) and local authorities.
The 40 group-finalists will be presenting their Proposals for final evaluation on the 9th and 10th of September, 2021. They are in the running for RM 150,000 worth of Project Grants allocated for the Top-20 spots! 10 main winners will walk-away with Project Grants amounting to RM 10,000 each, and 10 consolation prizes’ winners will take home a RM 5,000 worth of Project Grant each.
All of the winners will be announced on the 15th of September, and as the cherry-on-top, they will also get the opportunity to present their Projects during Tourism Selangor Global Convention 2021; a mega Convention involving nationwide Tourism Boards, Tourism Promotion Agencies, tourism industry players and the public, which is scheduled to take place in November; subject to the current set of SOPs.
