TOURISM SELANGOR’S CAMPAIGN IN CONJUCTION WITH WORLD TOURISM DAY 2021, RECOGNISED BY UNWTO
Tourism Selangor’s World Tourism Day 2021 Campaign is featured on UNWTO’s Official Website!
World Tourism Day, celebrated annually on 27 September, is a global celebration day that fosters awareness of the social, cultural, political and economic values of tourism and the contribution that the sector towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals. This year’s World Tourism Day runs the theme ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ which emphasizes on the integration of all industry committees in developing the growth of the tourism industry especially after being affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
In support of the initiative by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Tourism Selangor is actively mobilizing the World Tourism Day 2021 Campaign from 20 September to 8 October 2021 on its digital platform and across its official social media sites; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok application and YouTube channel.
Pocket events to the Campaign include a Special Edition Live-Talk session, Webinar, Pusing Selangor Dulu Virtual Tour, Focus Tourism Talk, CSR Program and also Tiktok Live session. What’s even greater – Tourism Selangor’s Campaign planning has been listed on the official UNWTO website.
Tourism Selangor on Monday has launched the said Campaign in a Live-Talk session – World Tourism Day Special Edition, which was broadcasted live on Tourism Selangor’s official Facebook page, featuring Guest Panellist, Professor Amran Hamzah, Professor of Tourism Planning at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In the session he said, “The celebration of World Tourism Day 2021 is very important during the recovery phase of the tourism industry after the Covid-19 pandemic. This celebration will raise awareness among the international community on the importance of the tourism industry to the social, cultural, political and economic sectors”.
He added, “Tourism Selangor also plays an important role in connecting and cooperating with digital and technology companies in encouraging modern promotional activities apart from supporting and providing assistance to tourism industry players”.
Meanwhile, Y.B Mr Hee Loy Sian, Selangor State’s Executive Council Member of Tourism and Environment in his officiating speech mentioned, “Congratulations to Tourism Selangor for supporting the UNWTO agenda in conjunction with the World Tourism Day 2021. I hope State’s tourism industry players will continue to persevere and innovate in adapting to the new norms in the best interest of the industry. I hope the public will continue to support the tourism industry in Selangor, especially during its recovery phase from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic “.
In another statement, Tuan Azrul Shah Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Selangor said, “Tourism Selangor celebrates World Tourism Day through social and digital media with the sharing and production of promotional materials, article series, interactive videos and some Campaign’s content as an effort to raise awareness on the role of the tourism industry, especially in the recovery and economic growth of the country”.

You can show your support towards the World Tourism Day 2021 celebration by sharing photos of your past holidays, especially in Selangor on social media. You can also upload photos of your trip to Selangor by including the hashtag #PusingSelangorDulu on popular social media sites including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
In addition, you may share the postings uploaded by Tourism Selangor in conjunction with the celebration of World Tourism Day 2021 such as posters, infographics, videos and other creatives. You can also plan your holiday to Selangor in the future, and do not forget to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or local sellers during your visit to this State later. You can buy local items such as handicraft products, dine at eateries owned by local owners and even hire a local tour guide for your trip.
