By Jessica

Calling all high-tea aficionados and pleasure seekers: The Hilton Kuala Lumpur is offering a special mooncake high tea this mid-autumn season.

From now until 30 September 2015, The Lounge at Hilton KL is offering a mooncake-themed high tea featuring a mouth-watering selection of mooncakes, spring rolls and scones made with the King of Fruits, durian. Presented in an exotic steel birdcage, the set includes Chynna restaurant’s sought-after baked mooncakes – pandan paste with single yolk, white lotus paste with single yolk, red bean paste with almond flakes, traditional five nuts and a snowskin mooncake, Flower Drum. Halal-certified, the baked mooncakes are carefully created, resulting in a harmonious texture and taste, while the Flower Drum mooncake is light and mildly creamy, thanks to the soft custard egg yolk filling.

No high tea is complete without scones – Executive Pastry Chef, Paul Gardin, made sure of that. But as a twist to tradition, the scones are modernised with the addition of homemade durian cream in place of clotted cream and jam, in tribute to the durian season. The result: a tantalising, durian crème complementing the fragrant scones impeccably.

To balance the dense and sweet mooncakes, Chef Paul created a fresh selection of savoury spring rolls in flavours like prawn mango rolls with sweet peanut sauce, oriental vegetable spring roll and steamed chicken with pineapple and hoisin dressing. Each roll invigorates the palate with a medley of mild and appetising ingredients – perfect as in-between nibbles.

Adding a fine touch to the experience is the prestigious setting of a view overlooking lush greenery, through The Lounge’s floor-to-ceiling windows. At a price of USD43 nett for two, this is an experience worth every penny, if you’re looking for an indulgent treat.

Besides the special high tea offer, browse the Hilton’s offering of 10 mooncake varieties to bring home. Among them the highly sought-after Heavenly Gold mooncake of pure Musang King durian flesh enveloped in a delicate snow skin and a unique signature mooncake, the Fiery Phoenix, made from an aromatic blend of spices, a tinge of chilli padi and tomyum, with sun-dried scallops and dried shrimp encased in a slender snow skin layer. The mooncakes are then packed into a Red Prestige box of four or a limited edition Pink Prestige Box of four; lavish, Louis Vuitton-inspired trunks with stitch-effect that make the ideal gift.

The mooncakes can be purchased at Chynna, Level 5, Hilton Kuala Lumpur or at the mooncake booth at the hotel lobby. For more information, visit life.hiltonkl.com
