Starting from 1 September 2016, guests and visitors of the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong will get to experience Bar High Five, a temporary recreation of the legendary Tokyo bar, which achieved third place in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2016.

The pop-up concept of Bar High Five follows the hotel’s success in recreating another renowned establishment, PDT (Please Don’t Tell), earlier this year.  Under the guidance of Bar High Five founder and master bartender, Hidetsugu Ueno, the pop-up will open in MO Bar’s upstairs private room, The Shell, until 31 October 2016.

Throughout the duration, The Shell will be transformed into a jewel-box venue reminiscent of Ueno’s glamorous Ginza institution. Together with his team of award-winning mixologists, Kaori Kurakami and Yuriko Naganuma, the pop-up bar will present 14 specially crafted cocktails.

For guests, the pop-up will shine a light on the idiosyncratic art of Japanese bartending, celebrating Ueno’s legendary theatrical approach, which includes meticulously carving giant blocks of ice into intricate diamonds, a spectacle guests find as enjoyable as the crafted and often playful cocktails he makes.

To complete the exclusive experience, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong culinary director, Richard Ekkebus, will present a bespoke menu of gastronomic treats, including charcuterie of Ibérico Bellota Ham and the finest Iberian specialities by Bellota Bellota.

In conjunction with the launch of the pop-up bar, the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is organising an Instagram photo contest with an opportunity to win a two-night stay for two people at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo and visit the original Bar High Five in the city’s Ginza district up for grabs.
