What do you love most about this city?

The answer is a really personal one. Zoo Negara is here. It's the only place in the world where I can be an animal worker on a regular basis and I’ve been a volunteer here for 14 years.

To see the Petronas Twin Towers.

What is the one thing that the first-timer must do in this city?

Eat hawker food and shop around Petaling Street (Chinatown).

For family – Overseas Restaurant on Jalan Imbi; with friends – Neo Tamarind in Bukit Bintang

The best thing about the locals.

Friendly and laid back, and everyone speaks English.

If I’m out and about, probably having supper at the Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa stall in Kampung Bahru.

What do you find most refreshing about this city?

While public toilets are super clean, their fully automated toilet bowls are ingenious!

The one experience or place that everyone must visit.

Enjoying shōjin ryōri (a way of cooking food in Zen monasteries) at one of the temples in Koyasan is an experience not to be missed.

The one local dish everyone must try.

Yuba, a type of tofu that’s available only in Kyoto and they prepare it here in different ways.

The best thing you can do here for free.

Strolling along or just sitting by the riverbank to enjoy the breeze.

A lesson learnt from this city:

Always have your hotel address in the local language to show to taxi drivers.
